How to add email, contacts, calendar and social networking accounts on a BlackBerry 10 smartphone

You can add multiple email accounts – both work and personal – to your BlackBerry 10 smartphone, as well as your social networking accounts. Depending on the type of account that you’re adding, you will also have the option to enable contacts and/or calendar synchronization while setting up your account.

To add an email or social networking account:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe down from the top bezel
  2. Select Settings > Accounts
    • If this is the first email or social networking account you are setting up, select the type of account you would like to add.
    • If you have other email or social networking accounts set up already, select Add Account then select the type of account you want to add.
  3. Enter your account login credentials then tap Next
  4. Optionally change any additional settings, such as synchronization preferences
  5. Tap Done.

If you’d like to make changes to an existing account, such as changing your password or display name, simply tap on the account to select it, make the desired changes and tap Save. You can also add an account using the advanced setup option whenever you are adding a work account, POP or IMAP account, as well as Contacts or Calendar specific accounts. Before setting up a work account, check with your administrator or email provider to ensure you have all the information you need.

To add an email using advanced settings:

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
  2. Select Settings > Accounts
    • If this is your first account, select the Advanced icon blackberry-10-accents-button-2 that appears along the bottom toolbar.
    • If you have other accounts already, select Add Account followed by selecting Advanced.
  3. Select the type of account you would like to add
  4. Enter your account username and password followed by tapping Next
  5. Tap Done.

After you add a work account, your device might prompt you to set a workspace password to use with BlackBerry Balance, and to enter your corporate email password. For more information on BlackBerry Balance, please open the Help app on your device and review the BlackBerry Balance section.

In the event you need to remove an account, please review the following steps. An important thing to keep in mind is that removing an account will stop all incoming messages, notifications and synchronization of contacts and calendar information (if enabled) for that account.

Removing an account:

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
  2. Select Settings > Accounts
  3. Tap on the account you’d like to remove
  4. Tap Delete.
