How to confirm your BlackBerry ID

Whether you are setting up a new BlackBerry device, or getting started with BBM on Android, or iOS device make sure you confirm your BlackBerry ID email address.

Why? If you use BBM for example, and you forget your BlackBerry ID password without first confirming your email address, you may not be able to reset your password.

To avoid this scenario, confirm your email address using the following steps. It only takes a minute or two and you’ll be glad you did should ever forget your BlackBerry ID password!

Confirming a BlackBerry ID email address

Using a web browser

  1. Go to http://bbid.com
  2. Select Sign In and log in using your BlackBerry ID credentials
  3. Select Account Details and underneath Email Status, click Confirm your BlackBerry ID email address
  4. Open your email and look for a message from donotreply@blackberry.com with the subject Confirm your BlackBerry ID email address
  5. Click Confirm your email address
  6. Enter your BlackBerry ID password followed by clicking Submit

Using an Android or iPhone device

  1. Within BBM tap More in the bottom right corner
  2. Tap Settings followed by tapping on your BBID
  3. Enter the BlackBerry ID password and select Sign In
  4. Beside the Email Status field, tap Confirm my email
  5. In the BlackBerry ID email that you receive, click Confirm your email address
  6. Enter your BlackBerry ID password and select Submit

Updating and confirming a new email address (aka username)

Using a web browser

  1. Go to http://bbid.com
  2. Select Sign In, and then log in using your BlackBerry ID credentials
  3. Select Account Details and next to Details, select Edit
  4. Remove the current username (your old email address) and replace it with your new username (your new email address)
  5. Open your email and look for the confirmation email from donotreply@blackberry.com with the subject Your BlackBerry® ID username has changed
  6. Click Confirm your email
  7. Enter your BlackBerry ID password, and then click Submit

Using an Android or iPhone device

  1. Open BBM, tap More in the bottom right corner
  2. Tap Settings followed by tapping on your BBID
  3. Tap Edit Account Information
  4. Remove the current username (your old email address) and replace it with your new username (your new email address)
  5. Tap Save
  6. Open your email and look for the confirmation email from donotreply@blackberry.com with the subject Your BlackBerry® ID username has changed
  7. Click Confirm your email
  8. Enter your BlackBerry ID password followed by clicking Submit
