Happy Friday! To kick off the weekend, here are five BlackBerry 10 search related tips you’ll want to know about!

1. How to quickly view unread, flagged, or messages with attachments only

To help manage email faster, here’s a tip that you can use to find specific types of messages. For example, I always use flags in my emails and use this tip daily so I can drill down to see the messages that I need to action.

  1. Access the BlackBerry Hub & tap the Search icon along the bottom toolbar
  2. Tap on the three bar icon that appears in the top left corner
  3. Tap Unread, Flagged, or Attachments
  4. Tap the three bar icon again
  5. When finished, to clear a search, tap Cancel in the top right corner.

2. Search using the Voice Control App

Need to remain hands free? If so, complete searches using the Voice Control app instead of typing!

  1. Press the hold the Mute key to open the Voice Control app
  2. After the beep, say your search term

3. Remote message search

Depending on what type of email accounts you have setup on your BlackBerry 10 device, you may have the option of performing remote search for additional messages. For example, I was looking for an email that contained a specific shipping address that was no longer stored on my device. Thanks to remote search, I was able to search my entire mailbox and view the results on my device which allowed me to get the shipping address, and continue on with my day.

Here’s a quick overview of how to use this feature and please keep me in mind, if you do not see a Remote Search option, your email account provider does not support this feature.

  1. Access the BlackBerry Hub & tap the Search icon along the bottom toolbar
  2. Perform a search and look for the Remote Search option along the bottom

4. Clear your search history or optionally turn search history off

This tip might come in handy around the holidays or a loved ones birthday to help avoid spoiling gift surprises. It’s the ability to clear your search history or disable it completely.

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
  2. Tap Settings followed by Search
  3. To turn off Search History, set the switch Search History to Off
  4. To clear your Search History, tap Delete Search History
