Turn on Word Predictions

A great way to improve your typing speed on the BlackBerry Q5 is to turn on word predictions, which will cause your device to suggest words along the bottom of your screen.

To learn how to turn on and use this feature, check out our post, BlackBerry Q10 & Q5 – How to turn on word predictions.

Type faster with Automated Assistance settings

You can change your typing settings to help you type faster on your BlackBerry Keyboard. For example, you can change your settings so that your device automatically capitalizes new sentences, or so that pressing the space key twice inserts a period.

  1. While viewing your home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
  2. Tap Settings followed by Language and Input and finally Prediction and Correction
  3. Select the settings that you want to change

Type using voice dictation

You can use voice dictation to type hands-free instead of using your keyboard.

  1. While viewing your home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
  2. Tap Settings followed by Voice Control
  3. Tap Enable Dictation

After doing this, to use voice dictation just press and hold the microphone key on the bottom left side of the keyboard.
