As we move into the holiday season and think about what BlackBerry® products to gift our family and friends this year, we certainly can’t forget about the dedicated social support program offered by #TeamBlackBerry. In addition to writing “how-to” articles here on the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog, our team is responsible for answering questions and posting #BBTips on @BlackBerryHelp and monitoring discussion on the Support Community. As the Social Support team is observably present in multiple outlets across the web, we’d like to recognize them for their diligence and hard work.

For those of you who’ve followed the Inside @BlackBerryHelp series, you’re now familiar with some of the faces on the @BlackBerryHelp Twitter® page, and today I’d like to introduce you to yet another one of our Social Support Team members: Mike (AKA ^MD)!

How long have you been working for the Social Support Team?
I started on the Social Media Team in January 2010 when the team consisted of only three members!

What do you like best about your job?
I’m a pretty social guy, so interacting with people from all around the world is right up my alley. It also feels great when they reply letting us know that we fixed their problem!

How has the @BlackBerryHelp community grown and developed since you first started?
When I first started on the Social Media Team, the @BlackBerryHelp Twitter account only had 9,700 followers. Since then we’ve added over 600,000 more followers!

What is your favorite BlackBerry smartphone tip/trick?
Definitely the Messages shortcut keys! If you have a BlackBerry smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard, use:

  • B to go to the bottom of the page
  • T to go to the top of the page
  • N for messages from the next day
  • P for messages from the previous day

These shortcuts make finding messages and navigating the hundreds of emails I receive on a daily basis much quicker and easier.

What is your favorite BlackBerry application?
It’s a toss-up; I use BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM™) and Facebook® for BlackBerry smartphones the most. It’s great when I can take a quick snapshot of my daughter and upload it to Facebook or send it over BBM on the fly!

Tell us a little about your childhood and where you’re from.
I grew up in a place just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia called Lower Sackville. As a kid, I played lots of baseball in the summer and of course, being from Canada, in the winter we would play street hockey. Boy, I miss those days!

How do you enjoy spending your personal time?
When I’m not at work, I love going home to spend time with my family, play some video games or play my guitar and bass. I love playing sports video games, and I play in a hard rock band with a few of my friends.
