Your Email, Your Signature

How-To

“If you have every reason to be angry, then be happy for no reason” is a wonderful quote, and a perfect line for an email signature. Today we are going to discuss ways to create/change your email signature for your BlackBerry® smartphone. Once set up, this signature will appear on any emails that you send from your BlackBerry smartphone.

How to add/modify your email signature using BlackBerry Internet Service

You can create your email signature either on the BlackBerry smartphone itself, or on the Internet via your carrier’s BlackBerry Internet Service Login page. We will quickly cover both ways to add a snazzy signature to your emails. Both of these methods will allow you to create a signature line for your email account that reflects your business or personal style!

On the BlackBerry smartphone itself, you can modify your signature by accessing the Email Setup icon, which may require you to log into your BlackBerry Internet Service account. Select an email address integrated on your BlackBerry smartphone, choose Edit from the menu and scroll down to the Signature box. You can enter up to a maximum of 200 characters, so be creative! After you edit your signature line, be sure to save your changes before you exit the setup.

To edit your signature line via the Internet, you need to log in into your carrier’s BlackBerry Internet Service Login page. Once logged into the site, choose Edit for the email address that you want to add the signature to. Edit the signature line and click Save to keep the wanted changes.

How to add/modify your email signature for BlackBerry Enterprise Server

For those of you with work email accounts integrated with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, you also have a couple of different ways to personalize your email signature for messages sent from your BlackBerry smartphone.

On the Home screen, click the Messages icon. From there, choose Options and then Email Preferences from the menu. If the Message Services field appears, be sure to select your enterprise email account. From there, simply select the Use Auto Signature check box and in the field that appears type a signature (again, up to 200 characters) and be sure to save before you exit.

Another way to modify your email signature works if you A) have a BlackBerry Enterprise email account and B) you have installed the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager software on your PC. If those conditions are met, then you can use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software to edit your corporate email signature. On older versions of BlackBerry Desktop Manager (4.x – 5.1), if you select Email Settings from the main menu, it has a box where you can edit the email signature. On BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0, you simply choose Device > Device Options > Enterprise Email to modify your signature line.

Now that you’ve got the know-how, tell us: What will be your email signature?
