When the PRIV screen is locked, notifications will appear when you wake the device, either by pressing the power key or double tapping the display.#1 – Customize lock screen notifications
If, when you set up PRIV for the first time, you selected “Show all notification content”, notifications will appear with content on your lock screen. This is important because it means if someone picks up your device, they can see content of recent notifications. For example, if someone sent you an email, the notification will show who sent it to you, and the first line of the message.
You can change this feature so the content in your notifications is hidden, or notifications do not appear at all using the steps below:
Go to Settings > Sound & notification
Tap When device is locked
Select one of the following:
Show all notification content
Hide sensitive notification content
Don’t show notifications at all
#2 – Switch to vibrate only
When you need to silence your device, but would like to get notified of incoming messages or calls consider placing your device into vibrate only mode.
To do this, press the Volume Up or Volume Down key, followed by tapping on the Bell icon (circled in red), or press the Volume Down key until your device vibrates. To switch back to audible notifications press the Volume Up key until you reach your preferred notification volume.
#3 – Switch to phone calls only
When you want to get notified for phone calls only complete the steps below to set calls as a priority interruption. This will result in an audible notification for phone calls only
Go to Settings > Sound & notification
Tap Interruptions
Within Priority interruptions, turn on Calls
Turn off Events and reminders (optional)
Optionally, select one of the following within Calls/messages from:
Anyone
Starred contacts only
Contacts only
After completing these steps, switch to the Priority notification profile and you will receive audible alerts only when someone calls you. To do this, press the Volume Up, or Volume Down keys followed by tapping Priority, and finally tapping Indefinitely, or setting a length using the ‘For X hours’ option.
#4 – Turn off vibration when typing using the virtual keyboard
When using the virtual BlackBerry Keyboard, PRIV will vibrate as you type, but this feature can be turned off:
Go to Settings > Sound & notification
Tap Language & input
Tap BlackBerry Keyboard Settings
Tap Key press feedback
Turn off Vibrate
#5 – Other sounds, vibrate on touch, and screen locks sounds
