Did you know that BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1 introduces the ability to create custom keyboard shortcuts? This extremely useful feature can help you complete a variety of actions just by briefly pressing and holding a single key.
For example, you can create a keyboard shortcut that opens a BBM conversation with a specific contact, maybe your significant other, or create a shortcut that opens a frequently used App.
Follow the steps below to review and customize your keyboard shortcuts to maximize your productivity whenever you are using your device.
Create a new, or edit an existing keyboard shortcut
By default your device includes a variety of shortcuts that I’ve listed at the end of this post but you can create your own shortcuts, or customize existing shortcuts.
On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen Tap <img data-attachment-id="11882" data-permalink="http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2015/01/how-to-subscribe-to-a-public-calendar-ics/1031-settings/" data-orig-file="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031-settings.png?w=800" data-orig-size="20,25" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"0","credit":"","camera":"","caption":"","created_timestamp":"0","copyright":"","focal_length":"0","iso":"0","shutter_speed":"0","title":"","orientation":"0"}" data-image-title="1031-Settings" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031-settings.png?w=800?w=20" data-large-file="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031-settings.png?w=800?w=20" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-11882" src="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031-settings.png?w=800" alt="1031-Settings" /> Settings followed by Shortcuts and Speed Dial <img data-attachment-id="11905" data-permalink="http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2015/01/how-to-create-a-custom-keyboard-shortcuts-using-blackberry-10-os-version-10-3-1/1031kbshortcut-settings/" data-orig-file="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png" data-orig-size="720,720" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"0","credit":"","camera":"","caption":"","created_timestamp":"0","copyright":"","focal_length":"0","iso":"0","shutter_speed":"0","title":"","orientation":"0"}" data-image-title="1031KBShortcut-Settings" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png?w=425&h=425" data-large-file="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png?w=720" class="alignnone wp-image-11905" src="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png?w=425&h=425" alt="1031KBShortcut-Settings" width="425" height="425" srcset="https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png?w=425&h=425 425w, https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png?w=150&h=150 150w, https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png?w=300&h=300 300w, https://rimhelpblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/1031kbshortcut-settings.png 720w" sizes="(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px" />
