Ivan aka ^IM

As we continue to introduce you to the people behind the scenes, we certainly can’t forget about our dedicated and reliable team that tweets for our Spanish handle, @AyudaBlackBerry! With this channel in a constant state of growth, the team is always on the go. Luckily, Ivan, aka ^IM (in the photo above with his adorable daughter!), was able to spare some of his precious time to share information about the BlackBerry® Help team down in Texas!

Ivan is our bilingual troubleshooting expert. In addition to serving as a knowledge base for all support questions about BlackBerry products, his linguistic expertise is invaluable. We’re proud to call him part of #TeamBlackBerry and are pleased to introduce him to our community!

Do you primarily respond in Spanish, or does @AyudaBlackBerry also see questions and requests written in English?

Due to the high volume of tweets and posts from the Spanish-speaking community, I only respond to our followers who ask their questions in Spanish.

How long have you been working for the Social Support Team?

I have been with @AyudaBlackBerry since July of 2011. I joined Research In Motion® (RIM®) in October of 2010 as a Desktop/Handheld specialist. Then I moved onto the Spanish team assisting our Spanish-speaking customers in troubleshooting.

How has the BlackBerry Help community grown and developed since you first started?

When I came onboard to the Social Support Team, we only had about 147,000 followers – and in a short period of time we grew to 208,000. That’s about 61,000 followers in just three months!

What type of BlackBerry smartphone do you have?

I have a BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 smartphone for work and a BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone for personal use.

What is your favorite BlackBerry smartphone tip/trick?

I love that you can quickly find out about a device’s OS version and PIN number just by typing “myver” and “mypin” (“miver” and “mipin” in Spanish).

Tell us a little about your growing up and where you’re from.

I am from Venezuela and grew up in Caracas. I came to the United States in 2000, fell in love with this country and eventually became a citizen in 2007.

What is your favorite food?

Hallacas, when in season (mainly during the Christmas season in Venezuela). For the rest of the year, I am your typical home-made hamburgers and hot dogs guy.

What type of music do you listen to? Do you listen to music at work? If so, what type of music do you prefer to listen to while you are working?

Like a lot of people, it depends on my mood, but generally I listen to anything. For work I do have a playlist that has some fast-paced Latin music, some dance, rock and techno. Just to keep up with the flow.

Thanks for your time, Ivan! Readers, let Ivan know if you have any questions for him in the comments.
