If you follow @BlackBerryHelp on Twitter®, you surely have noticed the pictures and initials of our awesome support team in the background. Today we would like to introduce you to one of the faces behind the channel – Brian, aka ^BBS!
Brian spends his workday providing you and the rest of our community with speedy and informative responses to all of your BlackBerry® device-related questions. Basically (and he wouldn’t say this himself – he’s a humble guy!), he is a walking-and-constantly-growing-BlackBerry-encyclopedia. Like our Support Team itself, Brian stays extremely busy; come to think of it, we were lucky to catch him for this interview!
How long have you been working for the Social Support Team?
I initially worked on a pilot project for social media support back in July 2009. Originally we were doing support on the BlackBerry Community Forums and Twitter.
How has the @BlackBerryHelp community grown and developed since you first started?
When we first started we had three team members and less than 3,000 followers on Twitter. Today our team has grown to 17 members doing support in three languages on @BlackBerryHelp, @AyudaBlackBerry and @BlackBerryBantu. We have over 650,000 followers on Twitter and we are now doing support on Facebook®, the Inside BlackBerry blogs and on the BlackBerry Community Forums.
What type of BlackBerry device do you have?
While I’ve used many different BlackBerry smartphones while at RIM, I am currently using the BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone.
What is your favorite BlackBerry smartphone app?
I love BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM™) – all my friends have it. We have different groups set up for different circles of friends, and basically if you’re not on BBM, you’re not my friend!
What is one tip you always encourage family and friends to use?
Take advantage of the convenience key on the side of a BlackBerry smartphone to quickly launch features such as the built-in camera.
How do you enjoy spending your personal time?
Up until recently I was big into golf, softball and video games. Now I spend most of my free time with my little girl – she is eight months old and I spend as much time as I can with her.
What type of music do you listen to? Do you listen to music at work? If so, what type of music do you prefer to listen to while you are working?
I listen to all types of music. If you look at my playlist you will find a wide selection of music – I have some heavy metal, rap, country, bluegrass and classical. I listen to my playlist at work and whatever pops up is what I’ll be bobbing my head to.
