To highlight, cut, copy and paste text, follow the steps below.

To highlight and select text

To highlight text, touch and hold the text. To change your selection, use one of the methods listed below:

• To select all, tap and hold followed by tapping Select All
• To shrink or expand your selection, move the cursor indicators manually
• To select text automatically, continue holding your finger to increase the selection size, i.e. word > sentence > paragraph.

To cut, copy or paste text

• To copy text, touch and hold the selected text followed by selecting Copy
• To cut the text, touch and hold the selected text followed by selecting Cut

• To paste, touch and hold where you want to paste text followed by selecting Paste

You can also copy and paste images, links, and more. For example, when you are using the browser and you find an image you’d like to send to a friend, you can use the Share feature to send the website address, or you can tap and hold the image, and within the menu that appears, you may have the option to copy the image address instead.

A few weeks ago I posted an overview of how to highlight, cut, copy and paste text using a BlackBerry® smartphone. Today I’ll be providing an overview of how you can do this while using a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet as well. Grab your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and let’s begin…

Manipulating text while using the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is designed to be really easy. All you need to do is tap and hold your finger on top of some text you wouldlike to modify, and a menu will appear with several options to modify text. For example, in the following screenshot, I tapped and held my finger on the word BlackBerry, which caused the text selection icons to appear.

Using your finger, slide the selection icons to cover the text you would like to copy, followed by selecting “Copy” from the available options. Since BlackBerry is the only word on the line I am highlighting, it was selected by default, but I can optionally move the sliders if desired.

To paste the text after copying it, all you need to do is tap and hold where you would like to paste the text, and a menu will appear with an option to paste. For example, in the following screenshot I tapped and held on the white space of a new Word to Go document.

A great feature built into BlackBerry® smartphones is the ability to highlight, cut, copy and paste text. Today I’ll be providing an overview of how to accomplish this on any BlackBerry smartphone. You may even find some alternative methods for editing your text!

By using the steps below, manipulating text is actually quite easy. The key thing to keep in mind is that depending on what type of BlackBerry smartphone you are using, the steps to highlight, cut, copy and paste text may be different. Grab your BlackBerry smartphone and let’s get started:

For those with a BlackBerry smartphone that has a trackpad, such as the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 smartphone, complete the following steps to edit text:

1. Press and hold the (Shift) key

• To highlight text character by character, on the trackpad/trackball/trackwheel, slide your finger left or right.
• To highlight text line by line, on the trackpad/trackball/trackwheel, slide your finger up or down.

2. Press the (Menu) key.

3. Select Cut or Copy.
4. Press the (Menu) key and select Paste.

For those with a BlackBerry smartphone that uses a touch screen only, such as the BlackBerry® Torch™ 9850 smartphone, complete the following steps.

1. To highlight text, touch the beginning and the end of the text you’d like to manipulate at the same time.
2. To adjust the highlighted text, slide the cursor frame.
3. Press the (Menu) key.
4. Click Cut or Copy.
5. Place the cursor where you want to insert the cut or copied text.
6. Press the (Menu) key.
7. Click Paste.
