Looking to locate the ESN, IMEI or MEID on a BlackBerry® smartphone? Wondering what an ESN, IMEI or MEID is? If so, today I’ll show you how to find these items and provide a brief overview of what they mean.
What is an ESN, IMEI or MEID and what are they used for?
Simply put, ESN, IMEI and MEIDs are unique identifiers that mobile devices have in order for them to be recognized on a mobile network. You can think of them like your home address — it’s unique to your home, and to have a letter or bill delivered, the sender must print it on the envelope.
Whether a BlackBerry smartphone has an ESN, IMEI or MEID depends on the model of your device and the mobile network it was designed for. If you would like to learn more about these unique identifiers and what they each represent, check out KB04665 in the BlackBerry Knowledge Base.
Finding the ESN, IMEI or MEID in Options
Something to keep in mind is that regardless of whether a BlackBerry smartphone has an ESN, IMEI or MEID, each can be found in two different locations on a BlackBerry smartphone.
