Hey #TeamBlackBerry, did you know that you can view your complete call logs simply by going into “Messages” and pressing Alt+P? Or that you can quickly locate a contact within your Address Book by typing their initials separated by a space? For those of you who follow @BlackBerryHelp on a regular basis, it’s likely that you’ve seen these shortcuts tweeted with the #BBTips hashtag. #BBTips are popular amongst our Twitter® community and our followers frequently retweet our #BBTips posts. But let me pose a question – where do these tips come from?
Believe it or not, it’s not a BlackBerry® smartphone that randomly spurts out this information in less than 140 characters – humans are actually responsible for putting these tips together! They are the Social Support Analysts that tweet for @BlackBerryHelp, writing #BBTips that our followers disperse further into Twitter, making life easier for BlackBerry users far and wide. You’ve actually already met several of the analysts (Ivan, Heather and Cynthia to name a few) through this blog series, and today I’d like to introduce you to Pavel, also known as ^PM.
How long have you been working for the Social Support Team?
I joined the Social Media Team in January 2010 along with Mike, when the team consisted of only three members.
What do you like best about your job?
I love the social aspect of my day-to-day tasks, and the fact that we help people on a global level every day.
What type of BlackBerry smartphone do you have?
Having always been a fan of the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9000 smartphone, I am using the new BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 smartphone.
What is your favorite BlackBerry smartphone tip/trick?
My favorite #BBTip is about dialing vanity numbers. Before I knew this tip, I always struggled with it. Now if you ever have to dial a 1-800 number with letters using your BlackBerry smartphone, hold ALT while typing the letters and press dial. Voila!
What is your favorite BlackBerry app?
My favorite BlackBerry app is most definitely BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM™)! I absolutely love the way it works, especially the delivery status notifications –“ D” for delivered, letting me know the person got it, and “R” for read, telling me they have read my message. That way your friends can never play the “I never got your message” card 🙂
Tell us a little about your childhood and where you’re from.
I am originally from Togliatti, Russia. I moved to Canada when I was 13 years old. When I came here I did not speak any English, which made it hard at first. As years went by, I picked up the language and think I have done a pretty good job at it. I am grateful to my parents for the opportunity to come to Canada and experience all it has to offer.
What type of music do you listen to? Do you listen to music at work? If so, what type of music do you prefer to listen to while you are working?
I am pretty open to all genres; however Trance, Vocal Trance, House and Electro House will have to be my top picks. I love to listen to music at work as it keeps me focused. I usually listen to my favorite DJ Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance, as well as Markus Schulz, Lazy Rich, Arti, Heatbeat, ATB, W&W and others.
Thanks for your time, Pavel! Readers, let him know if you have any questions in the comments.
